Critical Exponents for Semilinear Equations of Mixed Elliptic-Hyperbolic and Degenerate Types
For semilinear Gellerstedt equations with Tricomi, Goursat, or Dirichlet boundary conditions, we prove Pohožaev-type identities and derive nonexistence results that exploit an invariance of the linear part with respect to certain nonhomogeneous dilations. A critical-exponent phenomenon of power type in the nonlinearity is exhibited in these mixed elliptic-hyperbolic or degenerate settings where...
متن کاملOn Some Boundary Value Problems for Nonlinear Degenerate Hyperbolic Equations of Higher Order
The Dirichlet problem and other nonclassical boundary value problems for linear hyperbolic equations with two independent variables have been the subject of various studies (see, e.g., [1]–[8], [10]–[16] and the references therein). However such problems for higher order nonlinear hyperbolic equations still remain unstudied. The present paper is an attempt to fulfill the existing gap. Let m and...
متن کاملMartingale problems for some degenerate Kolmogorov equations
We obtain Calderón-Zygmund estimates for some degenerate equations of Kolmogorov type with inhomogeneous nonlinear coefficients. We then derive the well-posedness of the martingale problem associated with related degenerate operators, and therefore uniqueness in law for the corresponding stochastic differential equations. Some density estimates are established as well.
متن کاملWell-posedness for Non-isotropic Degenerate Parabolic-hyperbolic Equations
We develop a well-posedness theory for solutions in L to the Cauchy problem of general degenerate parabolic-hyperbolic equations with non-isotropic nonlinearity. A new notion of entropy and kinetic solutions and a corresponding kinetic formulation are developed which extends the hyperbolic case. The notion of kinetic solutions applies to more general situations than that of entropy solutions; a...
متن کاملEntropy Solutions for Nonlinear Degenerate Elliptic-parabolic-hyperbolic Problems
We consider the nonlinear degenerate elliptic-parabolic-hyperbolic equation ∂tg(u)−∆b(u)− div Φ(u) = f(g(u)) in (0, T )× Ω, where g and b are nondecreasing continuous functions, Φ is vectorial and continuous, and f is Lipschitz continuous. We prove the existence, comparison and uniqueness of entropy solutions for the associated initial-boundary-value problem where Ω is a bounded domain in RN . ...
